FAQs
How does The Goldfinch School’s enrollment process work?
We operate on a rolling enrollment basis, accepting new students throughout the year as spots become available. Each school year begins in September, with the main enrollment period opening in February for the following school year. Placement is determined by application date and program availability, with priority given to current families, waitlisted applicants, and then the general public.
How long does it take to hear back after submitting an application?
Once you submit an application, you’ll receive a confirmation email within a few days. After that, placement depends on availability and the waitlist. If no immediate spots are available, we’ll keep you updated as your child ages into the program (if applying before they are 2.5 years old) and as their application progresses.
How is the waitlist organized?
The waitlist is organized on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date the application is submitted and program availability. Priority is given to current families, followed by those on our waitlist, and then the general public.
Can I apply for future school years?
Yes! If your child is not yet eligible for enrollment, we encourage you to submit an application for future school years. Applying early ensures your spot on the waitlist for your preferred timeline.
What if my child doesn’t get in?
If a spot is not immediately available for your child, their application will remain active on our waitlist. As spots open throughout the years your child is eligible, we’ll review the waitlist and notify families in the order of their application date.
If your child doesn’t get in and you choose to reapply in the future (for example, for a younger sibling), we may offer the option to roll over your application fee or waive it for the new application. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation—we’re happy to help!
What happens if my child ages out before being admitted?
If your child ages out of the program before a spot becomes available, we regret that we won’t be able to offer them admission. As much as we would love to accommodate all families, space in our program is limited, and we must adhere to our enrollment policies to ensure fairness.
While application fees are non-refundable, as they help cover administrative costs, we strive to support families in this situation. We offer the option to roll over the application fee for a younger sibling or waive it for a reapplication. If this is your preference, please don’t hesitate to let us know—we’re happy to assist.
Can I schedule a tour before applying?
Absolutely! We encourage families to visit the school to see our classrooms, meet our team, and learn more about our programs. You can sign up for an in-person tour here.
How many spots are available each year?
The number of available spots depends on current enrollment, the number of graduating students, and transitions within the school, such as students moving from our 2’s and 3’s class to our Pre-Kindergarten class. To improve your chances of securing a spot, we encourage families to apply as early as possible.
