Overview
The Goldfinch School is a brand new preschool in Seattle, WA! We are looking for experienced and passionate Assistant Preschool teachers for Full-time and Part-time positions. We offer highly competitive salaries, paid training, benefits, and a friendly, collaborative, and warm work environment.
This is a full-time (9.5 hours per day) or part-time role (5 hours per day), Monday through Friday, at our campus in the Bryant neighborhood of Seattle. We are looking for an Assistant Teacher who is passionate about working with young children, supporting in the classroom, and collaborating with other teachers and staff who are committed to the well-being, social-emotional, and intellectual growth of the next generation!
Responsibilities
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for Assisting the preschool program, working closely with their Lead Teacher, substitutes, and families to develop and nurture each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills that are necessary for kindergarten readiness
Executes the curriculum based on the school’s pedagogy and the provided lesson plans. Ensures lesson plans cover a spectrum of learning areas including Language and Early Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Health & Safety, Personal and Social Development, and Physical Development.
Engages children during the daily operation of the classroom, and supervises children to ensure overall safety, accident and illness prevention, positive interactions and productive educational activity
Implements an age-appropriate program which addresses individual, small and large group needs of preschool children.
Participates in semi-annual teacher-parent conferences.
Maintains effective relationships with families.
Develops and maintains a positive and confidential relationship with parents/caregivers of every child, including thorough communication about the program and defer to the Lead Teacher and the Director to discuss each child’s progress.
Follows mandatory reporting requirements for suspicion of child abuse or neglect, and record-keeping of injuries or accidents.
Models and ensure professional standards of communications within the classroom.
Supports and guides substitute teachers, interns, and volunteers, in accordance with policies and applicable laws.
Record Keeping and Other Responsibilities:
Supports Lead Teacher with ongoing evaluation, documentation, and observation notes of children to create individualized portfolios and information sharing with parents/caregivers
Participate in staff meetings, in-service trainings, consultations, and professional development workshops
Training Requirements:
Willing to complete the following training at least 30 days before employment begins.

Bloodborne Pathogens
Food Handlers Certificate
Nice to Have
Initial Certificate
Short Certificate
Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Higher in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, Education, Home Economics, Music, Art, Library Science, Physical Education & Recreation, Psychology, Family Studies, or other Early Childhood Education/Development related fields
Experience teaching arts and language classes
Physical Requirements:
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccination
TDAP vaccination
Negative Tuberculosis (TB) test
Washington State resident at start date
This position requires regular and predictable attendance
