Overview
The Goldfinch School is a brand new preschool in Seattle, WA! We are looking for experienced and passionate Assistant Preschool teachers for Full-time and Part-time positions. We offer highly competitive salaries, paid training, benefits, and a friendly, collaborative, and warm work environment.
This is a full-time (9.5 hours per day) or part-time role (5 hours per day), Monday through Friday, at our campus in the Bryant neighborhood of Seattle. We are looking for an Assistant Teacher who is passionate about working with young children, supporting in the classroom, and collaborating with other teachers and staff who are committed to the well-being, social-emotional, and intellectual growth of the next generation!
Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the director, the floater teacher shall provide direct care and supervision to children, ages 2-5, at the center when needed as a support for Lead and Assistant teachers and as a fill-in for a classroom teacher not in attendance. Tasks include but are not limited to:
Feeding children and maintaining structure in the classroom during mealtimes, ensuring sanitation and safety of all children.
Supervise children’s rest/naptime, ensuring the safety of all children.
Assist with more interactive classroom activities (music, art, outdoor time)
Provide quality, responsive care in the best interest of a specific child’s needs.
Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities based upon daily lesson plans to help students learn socially, emotionally, and academically. Follows lesson plans that cover a spectrum of learning areas including: Language and Early Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Health & Safety, Personal and Social Development, and Physical Development.
Fill in for any teacher not present in any age group, including filling in for other teachers so they can take their scheduled breaks.
Greets children and caregivers at drop-off and pick-up, ensuring the safety of children, and maintaining a high level of professionalism and good rapport with parents.
Supports the production of the school's daily lunch and snack service for the school's students. Follows large batch scratch recipes as written.
Monitors and oversees food handling and service at the center, ensuring compliance with WA State Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Rules and Regulations, as well as Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Licensing Regulations.
Follows mandatory reporting requirements for suspicion of child abuse or neglect, and record-keeping of injuries or accidents.
Models and ensure professional standards of communication within the classroom.
Qualified applicants have a positive attitude, be flexible, friendly, and possess a love for working with children.
Training Requirements:
Willing to complete the following training at least 30 days before employment begins.

Initial Certificate
Short Certificate
Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Higher in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, Education, Home Economics, Music, Art, Library Science, Physical Education & Recreation, Psychology, Family Studies, or other Early Childhood Education/Development related fields
Experience teaching arts and language classes
Physical Requirements:
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccination
TDAP vaccination
Negative Tuberculosis (TB) test
Washington State resident at start date
This position requires regular and predictable attendance
